- In this walkthrough we will learn how to change the ATTRIBUTES of the PRIMARY FIELD of a custom entity.
- Let's say we want to customize the Account entity changing the PRIMARY FIELD in order to adapt it to specific requirements, such as a custom Display Name, or setting the REQUIREMENT LEVEL from "Bussiness Required" to "Bussiness Recommended".
- First, let's go to Customization and then to the entity we want to customize, and then select the Tab "Primary Field":
- You'll notice that the text boxes are read-only. You cannot customize the attributes from this form:
- Formerly, in CRM 4, you could change the Attributes of some entity on the "Attributes" form :
- However, in CRM 2011 there is not such tab. So go to the FIELDS tab of the entity:
- There, select the field you want to customize, and press the "Edit" button:
- In the "Edit" form, you can customize the field's attributes, even though it's a Primary Field, and change the Requirement Level, the Display Name, the Auditing settings, the Searchable settings, or the Maximum Length, but there is no way to change the Logic Name, the Type or the Field Security settings:
- That's All. Happy programming!!!
